MEET THE OWNER
Ty Johnson is a young and bright serial entrepreneur and creative born and raised in Richmond, VA. Ty currently holds the title of an experienced Natural Hair Care Specialist and Instructor, Beauty Business and Wellness Coach, Private Studios Owner and Property Manager, Mentor and Mom. She has established and operated a non-profit organization designed to provide resources for fellow and aspiring Beauty and Wellness Professionals in the area. Moreover, her contributions to the industry do not stop there. She has helped hundreds of business owners, local and far, grow their brands through business consulting. Ty's contributions also include easily accessible eBooks, all natural hair products and satin headwear to help the textured hair community maintain their natural hair at home.

Servicing her very first paid client at the age of 14, Ty has been mastering her talents and skills within the Beauty Industry for over ten years.

Ty serviced her very first paid client at 14 years old.

Throughout high school, Ty perfected her craft within the Beauty Industry offering Natural Hair Services to clients.
JANUARY 2018
After servicing clients for about 5 years, Ty founded The Slay Experience LLC.
​
The Slay Experience focuses on enhancing textured hair through client consulting, healthy hair treatments and all natural hair products + satin headwear.
MARCH 2018
Ty founded Sistas Who Slay, Inc. (SWS).
​
SWS is a non-profit organization that provides resources, networking opportunities and sisterhood to likeminded Hair, Beauty and Fashion Professionals in the Richmond, VA area.
JUNE 2019
SWS was dissolved.
While change was being made in the city, Ty and her former business partners decided to take a break from SWS to focus on their families and individual business ventures.
JUNE 2021
When the opportunity to manage a second salon suite and grow a team of likeminded Beauty Professionals presented itself,
Ty founded Slay Studios LLC.
Within 6 months, Ty had built a team of 13 Beauty Professionals working within 3 locations across the Richmond, VA area.
DECEMBER 2021
Ty secured her first private building.
